WOMEN AT THE NEGOTIATING TABLE - THE MISSING PIECE

With violent extremism on the rise, and trust in governments on the decline, Manal Omar believes that it's time for the peacebuilding community to change its approach to conflict resolution by inviting women, with their full sexuality intact, to take a seat at the negotiating table, where currently less that 10% of negotiators are women.

In the News

Across Red Lines is a multinational organization that works hard to not only spread empowerment and peace, but to also be a part of the conversation in Politics, Religion, Sexuality, Health, and more. It’s time for us all to challenge the red lines that are stopping freedom and peace.

Empowering Women to Lead Their Communities into Peace and Prosperity

Approach & Commitment

At ARL, we believe women are at the forefront of creating positive changes within their communities, be it in families, politics, or in the professional sphere. Historically, the Islamic community has boasted many such powerful change-making women, and so Muslim women today need to look no further than our own history to draw inspiration and strength as leaders and peace-builders.

Why “Across Red Lines”

Maybe that’s a question, or perhaps it’s an answer.

Face it, the why

Why? Because together we can release the power of the inner divine.

Were it not for the fact that the WHY is more important than the WHAT IF then perhaps there would be no Across Red Lines. The reality is that we all need to help each other out, across every red line there is, because we are working for humanity. We must communicate with ourselves and others in order to survive. We forget to communicate with ourselves more often, so this might help you cross that red line that’s been holding you back.

'Repeatedly, it became clear to me: for me to truly be the Muslim woman I so desperately strived to be, I need to look at the shadows within our societies. And for me – the shadows centered around Islam's view of a woman's sexuality.' –Manal Omar
